Historical outline

The ZEG-ENERGETYKA Ltd. was brought into being as a result of transformation of the Mining Electronics Factory "ZEG", Inc. in Tychy. The Company continues the best traditions from over thirty years' business activity of "ZEG", Inc. on the field of power engineering equipment manufacture, first of all analog modular protective automation sets of the ZAZ type. These devices, designed by the Institute of Power in Warsaw, have found a wide range of applications within the Polish power distribution system for protecting generators, generator-transformer blocks as well as MV and HV distribution networks against results of any disturbances.

The Company's R&D team carried out some works resulting in elaboration and implementation of a new generation family of digital devices constituting the present commercial offer of the Company. These works were conducted in co-operation with the Power Institute in Warsaw and the Warsaw Technical University under the management of DrSc. Eng. Zbigniew Wysocki from the Electro Power and System Control Institute of the Silesian Technical University. They were continued as so-called Task Projects co-financed by the Scientific Research Committee.

The new products are modern and user-friendly digital heavy-duty protective sets with the CZAZ base call sign. The first group of these devices is intended for protecting MV distribution station fields. Its forefather, the CZAZ-M-type set meant for protecting HV asynchronous motors, was awarded with gold medal at the International Fair of Electrical Engineering "ELTARG 96" in Katowice. Nowadays, the digital CZAZ medium voltage protections are being successfully operated in many power stations and industrial plants.

The second group of CZAZ protections featuring unique hardware solutions made it possible to develop and implement the CZAZ-RL and CZAZ-GT protective automation sets intended respectively for protecting 110 kV overhead lines and heavy duty generator-transformer blocks. These devices witnessed the modernity of Polish technical ideas.
